The Atheist Experience

My favorite podcasts involve a gentleman named Matt Dillahunty… He hosts both The Atheist Experience and The Non-Prophets in which he and outspoken atheists from the Atheist Community of Austin discuss the subject of religion. I’ve posted a video of a previous exchange that I thought was particularly well argued.
This is from last weekends Atheist Experience where he and a gentleman named Don Baker ended up talking about morals, then a fellow Austin resident named John called in to question them on whether or not God is moral. I would ask you to watch this even if you think you’ve heard these topics any number of times. Enjoy…

Great post. This guy Matt is obviously quite bright and extremely well informed about Christianity, but I think it would serve him well to be a little less condescending during his discussions. Obviously the argument he makes here is the right one, and it’s frustrating to carry on a philosophical conversation with someone (ie, the caller) who is so incapable of following the logical ebb and flow of point-counter point. Even so, I think he’d end up converting a lot more people (as the caller requested) if he weren’t so belligerent.
Then again, maybe that’s what it takes to get through to people who’ve been so strongly conditioned by religion–maybe it takes a big ass battering ram to break through that thick outer crust of delusion. It’s certainly true for other outspoken nonbelievers like Hitchens, Dawkins, etc.
