wow. i’m blown away. just wish she’d blow me. no but seriously…. Even on though it was on american idol, im surprised that the judges didnt pan her for the song choice. Wonder what was the theme for the episode.
My favorite part of that video is the robotic clapping happening in the front part of the audience. If you missed it watch it again. It looks like there are robots hands clapping to the beat.
Rob–Do you ever get the sneaking suspicion that you live in a country populated with robots? Sometimes I wonder if I’m the only human being left, and everyone else has been replaced by sadistic machines who enjoy starting wars and torturing people. Maybe I’ve said too much already.
Alan–Each contestant had to sing a song that came out during the year the contestant was born. There’s also a really hilarious performance of a thirty year old dude singing a medley of “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions”.
I hear you about the judge feedback. My guess is that they’re under pressure from their producers and sponsors not to say anything potentially controversial. Since the show is all about bringing in viewership and revenue, they probably don’t want to risk alienating anybody.
What’s interesting about this particular contestant is that she’s not very good and apparently has been in the bottom feeder for a few weeks now. This declaration of patriotism was an attempt both to counteract her floundering popularity and to conceal her marginal talents.
I feel like I’ve seen someone pull this trick before somewhere…
