From an interview with Hugh Hewitt in July 2005:

“The real impact of gay marriage is not something you’re going to recognize in a year or two. The impact is over generations. I believe each child in America has the right to have a mother and a father.”

From his letter to Massachusetts Log Cabin, dated October 17, 1994:

“As we seek to establish full equality for America’s gay and lesbian citizens, I will provide more effective leadership than my opponent.”
